To effectively meet your lighting requirements, we maintain over 35 stocking warehouses coast to coast. History of Innovation Stonco’s first product was an adjustable parholder marketed as a 150L. He held several patents for this unique product, and it was the first open lampholder UL listed for above horizontal aiming due to its triple gasket design. The 150L was also the first lampholder to use an adjustable arm with locking serrated teeth. This patented innovation has become the standard for outdoor lampholders, quartz floodlighting and low wattage HID floodlighting, and is still in production today. Within a few years, Stonco expanded its product line to include many new Contractor Friendly products. They also introduced a “Good,” “Better,” “Best” product philosophy that is still in existence today. In 1969 Stonco moved to Union, New Jersey, and was shortly purchased by Glenn Bailey--the foundation of Keene Lighting. This lead to the development of Genlyte in 1986 and the formation of Genlyte-Thomas in 1998. Sister company Crescent Lighting was purchased in 1979 and the Genlyte Supply Division was launched in 1999. In 2008, Philips Electronics, Ltd. aquired Genlyte and all associated brands, and the Crescent/Stonco Supply Division was created. Throughout its history, Stonco continued its tradition of product innovation. The Wallcube, introduced in 1971, has become the standard in surface mounted HID fixtures. In 1979, Stonco modified the 500-watt CPH Series quartz floodlight to take GE’s new medium base HPS lamps. Stonco’s SLA Miniflood was the first medium based HID flood, a standard even today for low wattage HID fixtures. Stonco followed the SLA Miniflood in 1981 with the first low wattage wallprism, and continued with the LytePro in 1992. Today the FloodPak continues the tradition, and is setting a new standard for outdoor lighting. Installation-friendly features were incorporated into many of the Crescent products. In 1986 the GP troffer was redesigned and included the first troffer with hemmed edges. Crescent re-engineered the GP2 troffer again in 2002 with the most contractor friendly features in the industry. |
